About

Moving Mountains One Yard At A Time

Our Mission

Proving that rival teams and rival fan bases can work together to achieve a common goal, Lettermen of the USA (LotUSA) is a national, social impact organization that harnesses the incredible power of former college athletes, as well as active and former coaches nationwide to help members of local communities in need.

We have teamed up to help serve honorably discharged veterans, wounded veterans, and former college players in need.

The mission of LotUSA is to impact those we serve by offering the motivation, guidance, and support necessary to pursue success in life, school, and work, One Yard at A Time.

The Storm that Inspired Change

April 27, 2011 – A tornado tore through the State of Alabama leaving 253 lives lost and a debris field that was more than 10 miles wide spanning from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham, AL. The devastation was life changing.  Major rivals, University of Alabama and Auburn University college players pulled together to help with onsite, hands-on relief efforts. But, more needed to be done. Former lettermen from the Alabama A-Club, and the Auburn Football Lettermen Club banded together to play the Alumni Day Flag Football Game, a charity game to raise funds for tornado relief. The event, played at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama, raised $150,000, which was donated to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund. This amazing achievement was just the beginning. It was the catalyst that launched the Lettermen of the Iron Bowl organization.

Desire to Serve

With lofty service goals and a desire to grow beyond the State of Alabama, the organization changed its name and extended its reach. Lettermen of the USA (LotUSA) now boasts more than 5,000 social media followers, including some of the most recognizable former athletes, coaches, and active coaches in and outside of the Alabama and Auburn families. The LotUSA member network gives back to its communities by volunteering during natural disasters, helping feed the homeless at local shelters, supporting wounded veterans or simply giving an autographed football to someone who needs encouragement from one of their gridiron heroes.
