The Storm That Inspired Change: April 27, 2011

A tornado tore through the State of Alabama leaving 253 lives lost and a debris field that was more than 10 miles wide spanning from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham. The devastation was life-changing. Major rivals, University of Alabama and Auburn University college players pulled together to help with onsite, hands-on relief efforts. But, more needed to be done. Lettermen alumni from Alabama and Auburn Football programs banded together to play the Alumni Day Flag Football Game, a charity game to raise funds for tornado relief. The event, played at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama, raised

$150,000, which was donated to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund. This amazing achievement was just the beginning. It was the catalyst that launched the Lettermen of the Iron Bowl organization.
