WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN VETERANS
Updated: Oct 14
She Served Our Country. Now It's Our Turn to Serve Her.
Lettermen of the USA | Veterans Assistance Program
Throughout our nation's history, courageous women have answered the call to serve in the United States Armed Forces. They have worn our country's uniform with pride, defended our freedoms, sacrificed time with their families, and demonstrated extraordinary strength, dedication, and patriotism.
Their service deserves more than our gratitude. It deserves our continued commitment.
For many women veterans, the transition from military service to civilian life presents unexpected challenges. Financial hardships, rising housing costs, utility expenses, food insecurity, and unforeseen emergencies can threaten the stability and independence these women have worked so hard to achieve.
While their military service may have ended, our responsibility to honor their sacrifices has not.
At Lettermen of the USA, we believe that supporting our veterans means taking meaningful action when they need us most. Through our Veterans Assistance Program, we are turning appreciation into assistance, compassion into action, and community generosity into life-changing support.
Our mission is simple: When a veteran needs help, we want her to know she has not been forgotten.

Making a Difference, One Woman Veteran at a Time
Through our Rent for Heroes, Utilities for Heroes, and Food for Heroes programs, Lettermen of the USA has coordinated $6,050.78 in financial assistance for six women veterans facing difficult circumstances.
Of that amount, Lettermen of the USA directly provided $3,450.78, while our community partners contributed an additional $2,600.
These numbers represent far more than financial transactions. Behind every dollar is a woman who once stood ready to defend our country and who now deserves someone willing to stand beside her.
Consider the story of one woman veteran who needed substantial rental assistance. Through a collaborative effort, Lettermen of the USA provided $1,600, VFW Post 668 Kelly Ingram contributed $1,600, and American Legion Post 255 provided $1,000.
Together, these organizations coordinated $4,200 in rental assistance to help this veteran address an urgent housing need.
Her experience demonstrates something powerful: When veterans organizations unite around a common purpose, they can accomplish far more together than they can individually.
Another woman veteran faced financial challenges involving both her housing and household utilities. Recognizing that hardship rarely comes in just one form, Lettermen of the USA responded to both needs.
This veteran received $177.72 through Rent for Heroes and $176 through Utilities for Heroes, totaling $353.72 in direct financial assistance.
While these amounts may seem modest to some, their importance cannot be measured in dollars alone. Assistance with rent and utilities can ease financial pressure, protect household stability, and provide something equally valuable—peace of mind.
Her situation reminds us that helping veterans requires compassion, flexibility, and an understanding that every individual faces unique circumstances.
For three additional women veterans, the immediate need involved essential household utilities.
Lettermen of the USA provided $347.06 to one veteran, $458 to another, and $192 to a third. Along with the previously mentioned $176 in utility assistance, these contributions brought our Utilities for Heroes support for women veterans to $1,173.06.
Electricity, water, and other essential utilities are necessities that no veteran should have to struggle to maintain. By helping these women meet their obligations, we offered financial relief during challenging times.
For another woman veteran, the need was even more fundamental: food.
Through our Food for Heroes program, Lettermen of the USA provided $500 in assistance to help put food on the table.
No woman who has served our nation should have to face uncertainty about where her next meal will come from.
Whether the need involves keeping a roof overhead, maintaining electricity, or purchasing groceries, our purpose remains the same: to provide meaningful assistance while preserving the dignity and honoring the service of every veteran we help.
The Power of Women Supporting Women Veterans
Our Red, White & Blue Bingo fundraiser, themed "Women Supporting Women Veterans," represents something far greater than an evening of entertainment, prizes, and fellowship.
It represents women coming together to honor other women.
It represents a community recognizing that military service and sacrifice do not end with the removal of a uniform.
Most importantly, it represents an opportunity to make a real and measurable difference in the lives of women who have already given so much to our nation.
The six women veterans assisted through our programs demonstrate why this mission is so important.
Their stories are different. Their financial needs are different. Their circumstances are different. Yet they share one important bond: Each answered the call to serve her country.
Now, through the generosity of our supporters, we have the opportunity to answer their call for help.
Proceeds from our Red, White & Blue Bingo fundraiser will be directed toward supporting women veteran programs, including initiatives such as those associated with the Women's Clinic at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.
By supporting this event, participants and sponsors become part of a larger mission—one dedicated to ensuring that women veterans receive the recognition, respect, compassion, and assistance they deserve.
Stronger Together: The Importance of Community Partnerships
One of the most encouraging lessons from our Veterans Assistance Program is the extraordinary impact of organizations working together.
The partnership between Lettermen of the USA, VFW Post 668 Kelly Ingram, and American Legion Post 255 in assisting a woman veteran with an urgent housing need is an example of what can happen when organizations place the needs of veterans above individual recognition.
Through cooperation, generosity, and a shared commitment to service, we were able to provide meaningful assistance to a woman veteran facing a significant housing expense.
That spirit of collaboration is at the heart of our mission.
We recognize that no single organization can meet every need. But when veterans organizations, businesses, community leaders, donors, and volunteers join forces, we create a stronger network of support for those who have served.
Together, we can turn compassion into action and ensure that our nation's women veterans know they are not alone.
Our Gratitude Must Become Action
It is easy to thank a veteran for her service.
It is easy to stand when the national anthem is played, applaud during a patriotic ceremony, or express appreciation on Veterans Day.
Those gestures are important, but our gratitude must extend beyond words and ceremonies.
True appreciation is demonstrated through action.
It is demonstrated when we help a veteran remain in her home.
It is demonstrated when we assist with an overdue utility bill.
It is demonstrated when we provide groceries for someone experiencing financial hardship.
And it is demonstrated when women throughout our community come together to support other women who have sacrificed in service to our country.
The $6,050.78 in assistance coordinated for six women veterans is an important accomplishment for Lettermen of the USA and our community partners.
But our work is not finished.
There are other women veterans facing unexpected hardships, struggling with essential expenses, or simply needing to know that someone cares.
With continued community support, we can reach more women, strengthen our assistance programs, and expand the impact of our mission.
They Stood for Us. Now We Must Stand for Them.
To every woman who has worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces, we offer our sincere gratitude.
Your courage matters.
Your sacrifice matters.
Your service matters.
And your well-being matters.
At Lettermen of the USA, our commitment is to ensure that those words are supported by meaningful action.
Our Red, White & Blue Bingo fundraiser is a celebration of service, sisterhood, generosity, and the remarkable difference that women can make when they unite behind a shared purpose.
Together, we can honor the past, respond to the needs of the present, and build a stronger future for the women who have defended our freedoms.
Because supporting women veterans is not simply an act of charity. It is an expression of gratitude, a demonstration of respect, and a responsibility we proudly embrace.
They stood for us.
They sacrificed for us.
They served our country.
Now, it's our turn to stand for them.
